Ginger is commonly used as a kitchen spice today adding a fragrant and mild aroma to the flavors. Ginger is also made into teas and hard candies, and carbonated drinks (ginger ale) which are often used by individuals with soar throats, stomach aches, nausea, and cramping. Ginger has been thought to also help muscle pain, heart disease, lower cholesterol, increase brain activity, and fight infections.
