Oil of Almonds

 

1/2 pound bitter almonds, 1 handful wormwood, 1/2 pint sallet oil 

 

Blanch the almonds and stamp them very fine. Bruise the wormwood and steep them together overnight in the oil. Still it with a soft fire.

Comfrey Syrup

1 handful each comfrey rootbetony, colt's foot, and rose leaves1 pound kitchen sugar

​

Boil the comfrey, betony, colt's foot, and rose leaves in a potell of water until a pint of water remains. Strain through a clean cloth. Simmer the water together with the sugar for half an hour. Take 9 spoonfuls of the

syrup in the morning and again at night and as needed.

Comfrey Syrup

​

6 ounces honey, 1 1/2 ounces powder of allcompane, 1 ounce each of powder of licorice, anyseed, and brown sugar candy, dash of powder of brimstone, 1/2 ounce each of syrup of colt's foot, syrup of licorice, syrup of maiden's hair, and syrup of hyssop

​

Mix the ingredients together and stew them together on the fire. Take a spoonful at night before bed and 2 hours before you rise in the morning.
